DAKO supports Senegal’s growing energy needs

Dakos teams in Turkey, Germany and Senegal successfully handled the transport of key power plant equipment from the Port of Antwerp to Rufisque, Senegal.

The shipment included the two main components:
A 177-ton Steam Turbine Generator (9.30 x 3.80 x 3.66 m)
A 172-ton Steam Turbine (9.58 x 6.06 x 5.39 m)

On arrival in Dakar, our team managed the heavy-lift operation using our Goldhofer THP/SL modules to transfer to the temporary storage and for the onward transport to the project site.

To install the components on a six-meter-high foundation, we upgraded our in-house technical capabilities by importing and operating an SLB 1100 gantry system, ensuring precise and efficient placement.

This work supports the 300 MW CAP DES BICHES Power Plant, set to become Senegal’s largest Power Plant.

Since 2021, DAKO has successfully delivered multiple turnkey projects in the country and is now preparing for the next challenge: transporting the main units for the 250 MW St. Louis Power Plant in northern Senegal.
